Canon Evaluation (Canon)

My main goal with my magazine cover was, to make it feel authentic and like a real magazine you could buy, I emulated the layout of multiple real camera and Canon magazine with elements such as the cover lines and the strapline as well as the barcode in the corner. I downloaded the font Canon uses for there logo on the DaFont website. The photo I took of the Winter gardens was used for the cover, due to the glass building looking visually distinctive and appealing. I experienced difficulties with taking more photos of the surrounding area due to not having enough time to. When my focus group saw my original  magazine cover, the main criticism was that the red text was difficult to see and therefore harder to read, in response to their feedback I changed the text to white on my improved cover, which is easier to see against the background. Overall I think I succeeded in my goal to create a magazine cover for a Canon magazine that advertises the companies products, if I were to improve or add anything to my product, it would be to add images of other areas and angles of the Winter gardens and the park surrounding it as I didn't have the opportunity to previously due to time constraints.

When creating my poster for my Canon campaign, I researched products from previous campaigns as reference when creating my concept posters. The primary subject of the poster is the camera, this communicates to the audience what the poster is advertising, the image of Penshaw Monument represents the places you could see and photograph by using a Canon camera. I tried to keep the design of the poster in line with a product Canon would create, due to this the poster is simple and minimalistic. My process started by researching Canon and their previous advertisements, then creating a flat plan and concept posters communicating my ideas and designs. After receiving audience feedback regarding my designs, I improved my designs and took photos and images to use for my final poster. After creating my products in Photoshop, I gather a focus group and ask for feedback regarding my product, after listening to criticism I edit my posters and create my final products. If I were to improve my poster, I would use a different photo for my camera as the current photo is out of focus, I would also take my photo of Penshaw Monument from a different angle as the final image still has lamp post in the foreground.

I created my designs for my poster and magazine cover in correlation with official Canon posters and magazines which I found on Google images. I created multiple designs for my poster each with different concepts and imagery before landing on a design that I enjoyed and felt looked professional.
My magazine cover went through changes in regards to the layout of elements such as the cover lines and masthead. After creating my concept designs in Photopea, I created a Google forms document for my audience to give feedback on my concepts so I could improve my designs, after receiving criticism, I improved my concept designs and began working on my final products by taking photos of landmarks or building that looked visually interesting so that the products would stand out visually. I experienced issues with saving my previous work on Photopea, so for my final products I used Photoshop to create them, for my magazine cover I downloaded the font used for the Canon logo on the Dafont website and used the font for my masthead. After producing my final designs, I ask my focus group for their thoughts and opinions in regards to my products, I used their feedback to make changes to my designs and finalizes my products.

If I were to improve my poster I would take a better photo of the camera, as the image I used is out of focus, I would also take my photo of Penshaw Monument from a different angle as the photo I used has lamp posts in the foreground. If I were to improve my magazine cover, I would take more photos of the surrounding area and use them as secondary cover images, I could also add more magazine elements such as the price or issue number.
