This project was a video in which we used different shot types and labelled them in order to learn how we could use said shot types in future projects. For this project we used a Cannon camera, a tripod attached to a dolly and our SD cards. The first issue we encountered during production was how we used our SD cards; we had the footage for different shots on two separate cards which made uploading and sharing the footage more difficult. When it came to editing the video in Premier pro, I accidentally deleted my footage on multiple occasions and had to recreate my video multiple times. While working on this project I learned to not use multiple SD cards on a single project as well as how to edit footage in Premier pro (primarily how to use cross dissolve transitions and add text on top of footage).
Western Shootout
This project was to attempt to recreate a western shootout from an old western movie. We shot the footage outside using a tripod-mounted camera, we purposefully didn't record audio not only because we were near a busy road, but we had also planned to used cards to display dialogue between our two characters. I created these title cards using photoshop, I used a template I found on Google Images as the background and used the Britannic bold font for the text. The dialogue was from the actors before we started recording.
During our filming session we had multiple outtakes and footage that wasn't used due to the actors breaking character or the shot being out of focus, however this footage was cut due to the scene being cut after we shot the scene. During the shoot, we utilized the cowboy shot which is a close up between the waist and the top of the head, it is used in westerns as it emphasizes the gun and holster to the audience. When it was my turn to use the camera, I struggled recording and occasionally took photos instead of filming by accident. Due to the shoot, I am more confident in my use of continuity, and I am aware of how to not break said continuity between shots.
When it came to post-production, I came across many issues primarily that Premiere pro wouldn't save my project which caused me to lose my work multiple times, during the process of trying to save my work, all my footage was corrupted, and I had to start over (this happened multiple times). My final issue while trying to edit the shootout was that I had difficulties editing my footage to make it sepia tone due to my inexperience with Premiere pro.
Canon Pitch Presentation This is a pitch for my Canon project based around the concept of a “journey” which includes a poster, magazine cover and editorial promoting Canon products. My target demographic for this project are people between the ages of 16 and 26 who have used Canon products previously and defines a “Journey” as a adventure or trip to another place. With my audience in mind I have designed a poster concept and a magazine cover promoting Canon products. Researching the Client Canon.inc is a Japanese company located Ota, Tokyo, they specialize in optical technology such as cameras, medical devices and printers. The company was founded in 1933 by Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Saburo Uchida and Takeo Maeda under the name “Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory”. In 1936 the “Kwanon” (Japan's first 35mm focal-plane-shutter camera) camera prototype was developed which they would continue to innovate on over the next 20 years. Shortly after the Kwanon’s development, the company would be renamed to Canon. Canon became a symbol of Japanese technology during the 60’s which perpetuated the idea of Japan being more technologically advanced than other parts of the world. The original name of the company was Seikikōgaku kenkyūsho, however after the creation of the Kwanon, the company would rename to Kwanon which would be changed yet again in 1947 to Canon which is similar to a term in Buddhism. As of 2023 the company crea...
