Pre-production: creative elements (Canon)

 Flat Plans


These are my ideas for my poster’s layout based on previous canon print adverts. The first flat plan is some what crowded with the logo ,text and image being close together. 

The third flat plan has the logo closer to the center of the image which isn’t seen on other posters. The second flat plan is what I will use for my product as it reflects the minimalism seen in other posters by canon.

For my posters, I used the third flat plan for my basis for the designs but decided to make the camera more prominent in the background.

The color scheme of the background for my poster should be white as it helps the dark camera stand out from the background, the text is going to be a dark red in order to match the Canon logo I am also planning to download the font Canon used for their logo in order to create cohesion between the logo and slogan.

For this project we used a Cannon camera, a tripod attached to a dolly and our SD cards. The first issue we encountered during production was how we used our SD cards; we had the footage for different shots on two separate cards which made uploading and sharing the footage more difficult. When it came to editing the video in Premier pro, I accidentally deleted my footage on multiple occasions and had to recreate my video multiple times.   Canon Pitch Presentation This is a pitch for my Canon project based around the concept of a “journey” which includes a poster, magazine cover and editorial promoting Canon products. My target demographic for this project are people between the ages of 16 and 26 who have used Canon products previously and defines a “Journey” as a adventure or trip to another place. With my audience in mind I have designed a poster concept and a magazine cover promoting Canon products. Canon Canon.inc is a Japanese company located Ota, Tokyo, they specialize in optical technology such as cameras, medical devices and printers. The company was founded in 1933 by Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Saburo Uchida and Takeo Maeda under the name “Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory”.  In 1936 the “Kwanon” (Japan's first 35mm focal-plane-shutter camera) camera prototype was developed which they would continue to innovate on over the next 20 years.   Researching the Client Canon.inc is a Japanese company located Ota, Tokyo, they specialize in optical technology such as cameras, medical devices and printers. The company was founded in 1933 by Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Saburo Uchida and Takeo Maeda under the name “Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory”.  In 1936 the “Kwanon” (Japan's first 35mm focal-plane-shutter camera) camera prototype was developed which they would continue to innovate on over the next 20 years. Shortly after the Kwanon’s development, the company would be renamed to Canon. Canon became a symbol of Japanese technology during the 60’s which perpetuated the idea of Japan being more technologically advanced than other parts of the world.
