Post Production Diary (Canon)
27.2.23:
I started by editing my camera photos in order to create a reflection effect in the camera lens, I did this by using the eraser tool in the first image to make the lens area transparent, I then put the second image under the original layer on photoshop, I then reduced the opacity of the second image and put my image of Penshaw monument bellow both images. I used a Canon logo from my pitch presentation and scaled it so it would cover the logo on the camera, which was a criticism of my concept posters from my Focus Group. I am currently experimenting with the font of my slogan as well as the colors of my poster.
I completed my magazine cover, which I started the day prior, I used a real camera magazine as reference for what I could add to the cover to make it feel more authentic, for example a barcode in the bottom left corner. I used a different font for my text as the font was a common criticism from my focus group, as well as the font, I also changed the placement of the cover lines in response to audience feedback about the visibility of the text. I used the shape tool to create the transparent squares under the camera as well as the Mast head, I also lowered the opacity of the white boxes by 50%.
For my poster, I made my image of Penshaw Monument stand out from the mostly black camera, by lowering the opacity which made the image brighter and more visible.
I attempted to edit my poster to replace the white background with black like in my original concept images, I used photoshop and the magic wand tool to delete the white background and shadows from my image, afterwards I used the eraser tool to erase the white shine on the camera. I think that the original white background looks better than the edited version as the reflection of the camera is still present, the black background also appears as a grey instead of the darker background I tried to create. Finally the red text used for the logo and slogan is harder to read against the dark background rather than the white.
