NHS Evaluation (Better Health)
Initially, with my better health poster I was going to use a model in place of the silhouette, however as the project developed I chose to keep the silhouette as it not only contrasted with the brighter background colors, but it could also represent the audience as a blank slate for the viewers to project themselves onto the silhouette, this was suggested by my audience who said that they weren't encouraged to be healthy by celebrities. The angle of the silhouette was changed from my concept images, from a side profile to a close up on the face, this was done to better convey that the poster is personal and about mental health. I used a green background in the final poster as it looks bright and appealing to the eye without being too visually loud. The halo in the final poster was added in response to feedback ,from my audience, that my the poster was too basic this same reason applies to the music notes. The text of the poster reflects the message of the campaign that being active improves both physical and mental health, although the font of the text was changed several times as the audience found the original font uninteresting. The tagline of the campaign is the same as the official better health posters as it conveyed the theme of being active and healthy. For my final poster, I experimented with different opacities on the music notes to create the effect of distance between notes in the foreground and background.
I experienced difficulties whilst using Photopea which forced me to finish my poster in Photoshop, I experienced issues with Photopea whilst creating my original concept posters as well which lead me to recreate the posters. I believe that I have met the targets set by creating a poster for the NHS better health campaign which encourages others to be active and healthy. I have successfully recreated my ideas as a poster and radio advert, however if I was to redo this campaign I would most likely do a TV advert rather than a radio ad as I feel I could have put more effort towards a Tv ad than the more simplistic radio ad. During the production of my radio advert I found it difficult to record narration as I was inexperienced using a camera microphone and couldn't correctly record audio. Next time I do a brief like this, I would like to create a TV advert as well as work with more people in order to step outside of my comfort zone, I would also like to experiment more with editing and how to bring footage together in software such as Adobe Audition. I think I can improve my audience research and how I create google documents, I also want to improve how I plan my projects so that I have a better idea of how and when I should create a product.
The skills I have developed during this project are, editing audio in Adobe audition for my radio advert, finding and using sound effects and Foley on Freesound, giving and receiving feedback on how to improve my products as well as changing my products in response to said feedback. Initially I found difficulties using editing programs such as Photoshop and Audition, at the end of the project I have learned how to edit audio tracks on Adobe audition in order to change audio levels or add transitions as well as change opacity and scale in photoshop to create a foreground and background effect. During this project I have learned how to import and export my products in to blogger and other sites, I have utilized this to add videos and images to my blog posts in order to better illustrate my process and progress in the project.
